Reka Kutasi, Lecturer, PhD, UMFST „George Emil Palade” of Târgu Mureş Abstract: As a result of the rapid and continuous changes taking place in the Romanian society, the Romanian education system is undergoing an intense process of transformation in order to shape the future of education in such a way that it meets the requirements of a modern and digital society. This process aims to improve the quality of education and access to education, as well as to promote the skills needed for the 21st century. The article aims to provide a detailed analysis of the challenges (reforms, school infrastructure, etc.) faced by the Romanian education system, offering a critical and informative perspective for the continuous improvement of the Romanian education process. This research proposes a systematic review of the literature based on limited empirical research in order to outline the transformations that the Romanian education system is undergoing, as well as examples of good practices that can be adopted to optimise and ensure an equitable and vigorous education system in Romania, able to respond effectively to contemporary educational demands.
