Soft Power, Colonial Mindset and Hybrid Discoursiveness

Author(s):
Andreea Pop, Lecturer, PhD, UMFST „George Emil Palade” of Târgu Mureş

Abstract:
Some 35 years ago, Joseph Nye first theorized the concept of soft power, by which he meant a specific and insidious type of influence that was just as effective as force, if not even more so. The Great Power Shift, as Nye put it back in 1990s when the fall of the Soviet Union triggered a restructuring process, is once again bound to happen. Within the soft power boundaries, economic power translates to cultural relevance. We aim at showcasing the soft influence through the language of flowers and arts and show the way they may engage a change in the way people integrate allotopies into their own systems.
