2025, Volume 7
Irina-Ana Drobot, Lecturer, PhD, Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to present an analysis of the short story volume Revenge by Yoko Ogawa. What is fascinating about this volume is the way in which connections and points of intersection, which may be simple coincidences or not, can be found throughout the volume. Certain characters reappear, and we find out more about them in the following short stories. Creative versions of intertextuality and metafiction are also present, as some titles and stories present in this volume are referred to and commented in other short stories, within the fictional universe. This volume is an example of extreme and innovative literary experimentalism. The analysis carried out in this paper works as follows: it goes through each and every short stories, established the connections, mentions their effect on readers, and it also comments on the significance of the respective experiences.
