Prof, PhD, UMFST „George Emil Palade” of Târgu Mureş Abstract: Since translation of poetry is meant to be a “creative transposition” (Jakobson), it is also because it has to preserve the foreign feature, something which helps creating the context for its reception. The limitations weighting upon poetry translation are quite significant, meaning that even if the “esthetic” dimension of poetic writing is omnipresent, the concern for fidelity tends at times to overshadow it. For Marta Izsak, translating some of Lorand Gaspar’s poems creates a space of freedom, since it allows her to revisit identical or similar themes. Given the overwhelming work of the poet, it also opens a realm of invisibility. At the end, the marriage between poetry practice and translation, in the case of Marta Izsak, contributes at making translation a feature inside her own writing.
