Anișoara Pop, Prof., PhD, UMFST "G. E. Palade" of Târgu Mureș Abstract: In this review we focus our attention on Monica Mihaela Marta's1 book. The book of the author, entitled Hedging in Medical Research Articles: Native vs Non-Native Speakers of English (2019) investigates, with remarkable accuracy, the mechanisms of hedging and the different ways of defining it. Hedging is, after all, a complex phenomenon whose fields of reference are lexicology, pragmatics and semantics. Lately, this phenomenon has been intensively studied and discussed and, with this review, we aim to explore this current mechanism. In literary sphere, hedging provides language with that euphemistic, polite valence, contributing to the fluidity of the communication process. This review has therefore aimed to explore some of the hypostases and facets of hedging, with focus upon hedging in medical research articles.
