Rooted Folkloric Manifestations – Between Definitions and Functioning

Author(s):
Eduard Ciortea, Assist. Prof., UMFST "G. E. Palade" of Târgu Mureș

Abstract:
Concepts such as myth, rite, ritual, symbol, archetype, or religion play an indispensable role in the proper functioning of the world of archaic mentality. However, each of these notions has been used over time with one or more meanings, often synonymous, but it has not been uncommon for a definition or usage of a concept to differ radically from one author to another and from one context to another. The purpose of this article is to capture the most important definitions of these concepts and thus present their functioning and the relationships between them.
